God's Dream

2019-03-19-DSC_0718-Jeff_Robinett_blog-Norman_OK-2Have you ever felt like your life has become stale, even stagnant? Are there times that just seem to crawl by? Your passion is gone…you’ve stopped dreaming…and one day just fades into the next?

It’s so easy to let picky details of life derail your dreams! You become distracted by all the chaos and confusion that surrounds us. Before you know it…poof…your dreams are gone!

If this sounds familiar, take heart! The Bible has the remedy. Take a look at this…

If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.

Proverbs 29:18 (MSG)

What this is saying is you need to have God-given dreams!!! When we are aligned with God’s vision for our life…blessings come. When we’re following God’s vision he gives us clarity and courage.

Inside his vision is where we thrive!

All the good things God wants to bring into our lives start with a dream. When those dreams are out of focus, we become confused and fearful…and we grow selfish. Basically, we stumble over ourselves.

Have you seen or heard about the movie titled The Bucket List? It’s about two terminally-ill men who decided to take a road trip together. Their goal was to do all the things they had always wanted to do before they died. In the end they found that none of the things they wanted so much brought fulfillment. What counted most were the relationships they developed and the investments they made in other people.

Think about it for a moment...what’s on your bucket list? While you’re thinking, here are some of my dreams…

For my legacy - I want to be known as a man of faith…a man who wasn’t afraid to take risks to glorify God.

For my family - I have a dream that all my children and grandchildren will be Christ-followers. I’m not talking about just being saved…I’m talking about having a personal relationship with him, surrendering their lives to him, and making a difference for others.

For my marriage - I have a dream that my marriage will last a lifetime…and I’m working hard on accomplishing that.

It’s OK to put some fun things on your list, too…like “skydiving, Rocky Mountain climbing, going 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu.” But I want you to go deeper than that! What are dreaming about for God, your family, your career, or your legacy?

Have you ever thought, “God doesn’t talk to me?” A lot of people think God only speaks in an audible voice. It usually doesn’t happen that way…and here’s why: God wants to take you outside of your reality. God chooses to speak in realms beyond this world to get us to focus beyond this world.

So, how does God communicate? Giving you a picture of what he wants to do in your life is one of his best…and favorite…methods. That’s right…your life dreams are one of the main ways God communicates!

“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”

Acts 2:17 (NIV)

If you have a dream of raising kids that love God and love people…who do you think spoke that into your heart? If you have a dream of doing good works and blessing people so that God is glorified…where do you think that came from? That’s right…God!

Life is not about seeing the world or retiring with a fat 401K. It’s about impacting others positively. It’s about bringing people into the life Jesus has for them.

It’s not about your job, your money, or your education. It’s about your life intersecting with others to show them Jesus.

Whose life are you able to touch at your job?

Whose life are you able to speak into while obtaining an education?

Whose life are you able to impact as you’re serving the community?

God’s dream for your life will always place you on the path of someone who needs him…someone you can lead to him. This is God’s dream for your life.

Some of us need to dream again because life’s details have overwhelmed us. It’s happened to me. Maybe it’s happened to you, too.

Let’s dream big dreams together. Let’s dream God-size, God-inspired dreams.
